Fully Alive

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 9, 2009, 10:38 AM

There's only five to six more weeks left in this semester, and despite my previous fears, things are going well. My Bachelor's program is off to a rough start, but all is well.

I have some photographs of a burlesque show I attended. I'm not sure if I'm going to post them here. I have sort of left this place. I don't even know why I'm updating the journal. Ah hell, I might as well post them, right? Guess I will.

If you want to keep up with more current photographs, even ones I don't post here, follow me on my website at [link] . I post a lot of images in my blog on that website, and the good stuff goes in my galleries.

I still look at all your stuff... everyone on here. Keep up the good work, I'm impressed.

Guess I will go now, and upload those photos.

I've Graduated

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 13, 2009, 12:01 PM

I am an official graduate with an Associates Degree in Commercial Digital Photography.

I am now attending night classes for my Bachelors, which will happen in a year and a half.

I'm pretty busy... sometimes I update my blog at [link] , but mostly I'm occupied doing other things now.

I am organizing a Carrotmob, and write the blog for that.
I am a contributor for Androidguys.com, writing reviews, opinion pieces and articles.
I am a volunteer for 2 political (and politically charged) organizations.
And I go to school full time.

All these things are very exciting, and although I still have time to shoot, I find myself doing less and less of that lately. My work is going to be transitioning to video over the next year and a half, although I am deeply in love with still photography and will never leave that medium completely.

I have to go study now before the big Carrotmob meeting. Later.

Public Blog

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 17, 2009, 5:38 PM

I have a public blog I update regularly. In it you can read about all accounts of my life, but mostly photography and photography related stuffs. Go see it at [link]

In other news, I am in need of models! I don't care if you're not normally a model. If you're heavily tattooed PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE to apply. Even if you want to use the set for your own personal gain, I don't care. I'm only using it for my final book and will not be selling these images. The shoot is FREE. I do mean it, FREE. I'll even burn you a disk, edited if you wish. I am in serious need of models. For realz.

Mounted

I guess since I have one measly reader I'll update this every once in a while.

We got our house. It's magnificent. Now we're saving for a washer and dryer, and a car, and then onto the personal projects. I only have two planned, and then I guess I'm going to have to let myself go crazy again in order to get inspired for more. But until then, sanity. Or what I have left of it.

I will have my sleeve finished in July. Big time for me, I just can't wait. It will probably take a few months to finish completely, due to healing time in between sessions. And hell, I don't even know if it will take more than 15 hours to do, so it might not be completely finished even then, but it will certainly be much closer.

I did the editorial on Kustom Thrills. Donnie wants a better portrait for the main image, but other than that he gave the okay on everything else. If it's nice tomorrow I'm going to bring Chris (the owner and tattoo artist of Kustom Thrills) his cd of images and take a better portrait of him. I really wanted to avoid doing a cliche standard portrait straight-on with loop lighting, so that's why I did the portrait I did. The lighting was dramatic and the scenery was unusual but fit the store's theme very well. But Donnie insists "it just won't transfer well onto newsprint."

I'm going to try to stop by Shaolin Concepts on Wednesday or Thursday and see if they'll let me photograph their black-belts or sparring. I am in desperate need of images for midterm.

Now that I think about it, maybe I'll do the new portrait of Chris on Wednesday, so I can bring my camera to shoot something for my Commercial Advertising final.

And now I have the Company Summary finished for my business plan. Yay! Only 95% more to do! Joy!

Do you feel the sarcasm in the air?

Well that's all for now. I'm off to do... NOTHING! THAT'S RIGHT! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! MUAHAHA!

(told you my crazies were coming back.)

Frame

Life is going excellently. I've been photographing some basketball games, which I despise but do anyway. I've got to photograph 3 different sports this semester, plus a feature image each week, plus an editorial layout, do an exact copy of a magazine ad, and write a detailed business plan. Sounds pretty easy at first, but the quality standards are exceptionally high.

Tonight I'm going to photograph my editorial layout. It's on Kustom Thrills Tattoo Studio. Yes, I am doing an editorial on the studio I go to. They've been begging for some press shots for forever, so this is a great opportunity to get some good shots for them. I'll finish up their shots in the studio when I get an opportunity to get some studio time. I'm excited about doing this for them, and getting my final project for Photojournalism class out of the way at the same time.

I'm not doing any personal projects (other than doing some press shots for Kustom Thrills), and don't plan on doing any until after September. We're saving money for a house, and for the wedding. Our lease is up on July 31, I graduate in mid-August, and the wedding is planned for September 19. After that I'll probably finish my photography sleeve tattoo, then work on some personal projects. I'm just going to concentrate on school and saving for that house for now.

Guess I'm going to go work on some stuff. Later.
